(Workshop) - Water from Hand to Hand to Water - Collectif Masi

Inspired by Diogenes’ call to “destroy the stamp on money,” the project questions the authority that determines value. Beginning with workshops involving participants from diverse backgrounds, the project involves crafting clay objects featuring water-related symbols inspired by ancient Sinop coins.

The performance emerging from this collaborative production process connects the city’s two harbors—as the two sides of the same coin—and spreads across various points in Sinop. Seawater and freshwater are passed from hand to hand in vessels used in daily life, creating a temporary chain of sharing and care. As the waters merge and return to the sea, the clay coins remain behind as relics bearing traces of Sinop’s contemporary relationship with water.
